Splish Splash Your Way Through Hocking Hills This Summer! | Cherry Ridge Retreat

Being on or in water is synonymous with summer.  Whether it’s relaxing on a boat, fishing, or swimming, the beautiful Hocking Hills region in southeast Ohio has it all.  Let’s take a look at some of the best places to cool off in the refreshing waters of the area!

Boating/Canoeing

The northern end of Nelsonville offers Murray’s Landing, which has three different canoe and kayak trips down the Hocking River.  The original canoe livery in the Hocking Hills, Hocking Hills Adventures, offers trips by canoe, kayak, raft or tube. Special events they offer include Romantic Moonlight tours and Torchlight tours at sunset!

Fishing

A trip into the Zaleski State Forest will lead you to Lake Hope State Park, which has a beautiful, scenic body of water full of bluegill, catfish, largemouth bass, and more.  Need a guided fishing trip? Check out Ohio Belly Boat Fishing in Rose Lake for a half-day guided tour, all while paddling with your feet!

Swimming or…Jet Packing?!

That’s right, jet pack water adventures are available in Lancaster!  After a brief lesson from one of Jet Pack Water Adventures’ certified instructors, be ready to fly high over the water like Iron Man!  Looking for something more low-key (or low altitude?)  Lake Logan State Park and Lake Alma State Park offer public swimming beaches, or if you’re staying in the Observatory at Cherry Ridge Retreat of Hocking Hills, you barely have to leave your cabin to take a dip in the pool or hot tub!

Summer is the perfect time to come down to Hocking Hills and explore, and Cherry Ridge Retreat is the perfect place to come back to and relax after a big day on the water.  Book your stay with us today!
