Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions not answered on our list!

Privacy:

Is my cabin secluded? How close is the next cabin? How far is my cabin from the road? What are the views like from my cabin?

At Cherry Ridge Retreat of Hocking Hills, our cabins are situated nearly a mile from the road amidst 140 acres of private forested land. We focus on quality, not quantity: each cabin is situated on its own private site and each site is unique. As you sit on your porch or gaze from the great room picture windows, all you’ll see is nature: trees, water features, birds, and deer. Isn’t this why you wanted to go to Hocking Hills in the first place?

Trails:

Are there hiking trails on the property?

Whereas most rentals in Hocking Hills are located on very small pieces of property, Cherry Ridge Retreat of Hocking Hills is situated on 140 private acres. We have over 5 miles of hiking trails that wander through wooded ridges and ravines. You’ll find a wide variety of flora and fauna, as well as several serene picnic sites where you can enjoy a private meal in the midst of the forest.

How do I find the trails?

Our hiking trails stretch throughout our entire property, with private trail-heads beginning at most cabins; there are approximately five miles of maintained hiking trails spread out over our 140 acre retreat. Some of these trails have picnic areas; all of these trails are scenic nature trails. Trail maps are available at the front office.

May I use Dirt Bikes, ATV’s or UTV’s on the trails?

No. We’re sorry but these things are a danger to our hikers and also damage our trails and fauna so we must say no. Mountain Bikes are allowed.

Cabin Choices:

How do I know which cabin to choose?

Have you ever booked a vacation and felt like you were taking a big leap of faith? At Cherry Ridge Retreat of Hocking Hills, the good news is: all the cabins are wonderful. There really isn’t a “bad choice” when it comes to our cabins. If you’re looking for ultimate privacy and star gazing views, try The Observatory. If you want to be surrounded 360 degrees by gorgeous woodland, maybe try Ravine’s Edge. If you can’t get enough of a lakeview, try out the Boat House or the Lake House! If you loved the first cabin you visited, you’re welcome to come back to that one year after year. Or return and stay at a new cabin with every visit. Over time you’ll discover the varied views and charms of Cherry Ridge Retreat.

Check-in/Check-out:

What time is Check-in? What time is Check-out?

Check-in is at 4pm. Check-out is 11am.

Is there an option to check-out later than 11am?

Do you allow children?

Yes! While Cherry Ridge Retreat was adult only for many years, most of our cabins now allow children for an additional charge. Children are allowed at Still Waters, Water’s EdgeBoat House, and The Lake House.

Distance:

How far are you from Hocking Hills? Ash Cave? Cedar Falls?

The ‘Hocking Hills’ are actually an entire region stretching along the Appalachian hills in southern Ohio, in Hocking County. Our cabins are nestled right in Hocking County and they are just a 15 minute drive from one of our favorite Hocking Hills attractions, Ash Cave! Once you’ve made it there, all the other Hocking Hills ‘must-sees’ -Cedar Falls, Old Man’s Cave, etc- are just 5 to 10 minutes from each other!

How far is the nearest grocery store or gas station?

Given the secluded and private nature of our retreat, the nearest grocery store or gas station is about a 25 minute drive from your cabin. We do recommend you do your shopping before you arrive on property.

Electric Vehicles:

Do you have an EV Charger?

Cherry Ridge now features a dual port ChargePoint+ Phase 2 Universal Charge station at the front office, the first EV universal charger in Hocking Hills! Supporting electric vehicles and charging stations is just one way we can contribute to a sustainable future!

*Tesla owners, make sure to bring your Charger Adapter*

We have firewood available to purchase for our indoor fireplaces (at the Boat House or Lake House) and outdoor firepits.

Can we bring our own firewood?

Are there water features on the property? Do you allow fishing or swimming?

Rarely do you find private ponds in Hocking Hills. Cherry Ridge Retreat of Hocking Hills has several beautiful ponds which can be accessed by a number of wooded trails.
